Over 2,000 leaders from business, politics, academia, the media and civil society will once again meet at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, from 24-28 January. This year’s theme, The Shifting Power Equation, reflects the elements that will shape the global agenda in 2007.Many of the fundamental challenges set forth in the programme are familiar. But the setting has changed dramatically as distinct new influences have appeared which cast these challenges in a different light. They include the growing prominence of emerging economies, the increasing leverage of commodity suppliers, the enhanced voice of individuals or small groups over institutions and the stronger role of consumers over producers.
These new influences are woven into a rich and varied programme that groups the issues into four sub-themes, economics, geopolitics, technology and society, and business.
